SESSION 11 — PENTECOST OF THE HEART
THE PATH BACK TO JESUS CHRIST
“You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
Session 11 — Pentecost of the Heart, where the Spirit descends and transforms everything.
We now enter the fire that does not burn and the strength that does not dominate. The Spirit does not replace Christ: He makes Him alive within us.
Intention of the Session
To welcome the coming of the Holy Spirit as a gift from God who gives life, teaches, consoles, and sends forth; to allow the Spirit to make the Word of Jesus Christ alive within us.
This session is offered:
• for the inner renewal of hearts
• for all believers
• for those who live without breath or hope
• for all Creation, which waits to be brought to life
Sacred Opening
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Expectant silence.
Invocation
Come, Holy Spirit,
promise of the Father,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them
the fire of your love.
Amen.
Living Word — Canonical Scripture
Proclaimed with reverence:
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit,
and began to speak in other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts of the Apostles 2:4
Prolonged silence.
Silent Meditation
The Spirit does not make noise in order to impose Himself.
He descends where there is openness.
He does not make all things uniform.
He unites without erasing diversity.
Pentecost is not ecstasy in order to flee from the world, but strength to love within it.
Silence.
Complementary Text — Ancient Tradition
Gospel of Thomas
Read with sobriety:
“Jesus said:
The Kingdom is within you
and outside of you.”
Gospel of Thomas, Logion 3
Silence.
This text is received as an inner echo of the presence of the Spirit who dwells and acts.
Breath of the Spirit
With gentleness and attention:
• As you inhale:
“Come, Holy Spirit…”
• As you exhale:
“…renew my heart.”
Three times.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit,
breath of God,
breathe upon my life
what comes from the Father.
Illuminate my mind,
strengthen my will,
teach me to love
as Jesus Christ loved.
Do not let me close my heart
to your gentle and faithful voice.
Amen.
Ritual Gesture
Place one hand over the heart and the other open toward heaven.
Inwardly:
“Holy Spirit, dwell within me.”
This gesture is offered:
• for those who have lost their inner fire
• for those who proclaim the Word
• for those who serve in silence
• for humanity in need of wisdom
Prayer for Humanity and Creation
Spirit of Life,
renew the face of the Earth.
Heal what is divided,
strengthen what is weak,
and guide humanity
along paths of justice and peace.
Amen.
cf. Psalm 104:30
Integration
Deep silence.
Do not force the fire.
Do not extinguish it.
Let the Spirit act.
Closing and Blessing
The love of God
has been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit
who has been given to us.
May this Spirit
give life to all Creation.
Amen.
cf. Romans 5:5
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
